Halloween is big business in the U.S., and there are plenty of opportunities for the pet industry to get a piece of the action.
More than 179 million Americans plan to partake in festivities this year, according to the National Retail Federation (NRF) annual Halloween survey. That’s up from 171 million last year, with spending slated to reach a record high in survey history.
Of those planning to celebrate the holiday, 16 percent intend to dress up their pets, according to NRF.

Here’s the top 10 list:
- Hot dog
- Dog/lion/pirate (tie)
- Batman character
- Star Wars character
